Biography

the art of transformation
What unites my life’s work isn’t a single career or discipline but a fascination with the art of transformation—the alchemy of seeing one thing become something entirely new. I began my career in Boston’s early tech scene, then moved to New York City during the first dot-com wave, helping to shape emerging forms of digital communication. I’ve always been drawn to the moments where something raw and unformed comes alive with potential.
brewing and alchemy
My first major entrepreneurial leap came in Chicago with Baderbräu Brewing, where I helped revive and reimagine a beloved beer brand. Brewing, to me, was never just a business—it was alchemy. Watching grain and water transform into something vibrant, complex, and alive taught me that transformation is both science and art. While the brewery ultimately failed, I don’t see it as a defeat. It was a crucible that forged resilience, creativity, and leadership—transforming me in ways I couldn’t have anticipated.
teaching and growth
From tech to brewing, I eventually found my way to education—another form of transformation. Teaching mathematics, both as a homeschooling parent and now in a Catholic school, has been as much about shaping minds as uncovering the beauty of patterns and logic. In teaching, I see the same spark I found in brewing—a raw material becoming something more refined, more alive.
life on the land
In recent years, I’ve been living closer to the rhythms of nature on my farm in West Virginia. Raising animals and rebuilding after a devastating fire has deepened my respect for cycles of creation and renewal. My new octagonal house, inspired by Orson Fowler, is both a personal project and a meditation on structure, balance, and harmony—a kind of architectural alchemy.
philosophy and myth
Beyond the physical, I’ve always sought the symbolic and the archetypal. Through my Griffin Minotaur project—both a Substack and a YouTube channel—I explore myths, eschatology, and hidden narratives that shape our culture. My upcoming book, The Griffin and the Minotaur, will be a personal exegesis, weaving together history, philosophy, and the search for meaning.
What’s Next
This site is my personal hub for all these threads—past, present, and future. Whether I’m experimenting with fermentation, building new ventures, or uncovering ancient archetypes, the constant is transformation. Everything I do begins with the same question: what can this become?
